Corporate worship is important to every local church. Sometimes, the music is good quality and sometimes there are probably many attendees that are glad they only have to hear that music once a week. That being said, North Carolina based worship band At the Threshold, are bringing some pretty good corporate worship material to the table with their self-titled release. Songs like "Covert of Your Wings" and "Isaiah 6" are serious standout tracks. They feature strong vocals and full music that draws doctrinally sound lyrics from scripture. However tracks like "Eulogy" and "Judgment Day" don't quite hit the mark. While the music is beautiful, the vocals don't match the quality. Also, the flow of the lyrics feels choppy and disjointed. Lead singers Jonathan and Hannah Riddle have great quality vocals but they tend to sound better together than separate. The album concludes with the heartfelt "The Blood Covered All." The music is simple but very sincere and the duet of the Riddles is breathtaking. Truth be told, this is a decent effort from At the Threshold. It's good music that just needs some fine-tuning. Many of these songs could easily be sung at Sunday morning gatherings or for special events. While it may have a hiccup here or there, it is most definitely a good album at heart.
